Still here

February 10th, 2010

Hello all,
Well we’re still in California, until we sell this place. As John Lennon said, “Life is what happens while you’re making other plans”. In September, my doctor thought I’d had a stroke and an mri showed a little tumor. I thought I would have it removed in January, but life happens. My husband Ric (Weebul at Faire) ended up in the hospital January 2 throwing up blood. Besides bleeding ulcers, his liver was damaged and he is now diabetic. He went in the hospital a second time on the 19th and is home now. We’re trying to get his blood sugar (and ammonia) balanced. Meanwhile, I’ve been a care giver instead of a cookie cutter maker. He is doing better now and I’m going to try to get the kutters going again. Don’t give up, I’m still here. I’ll see the surgeon on the 17th and hopefully get rid of the tumor.

In California for another month

together

Right now, I’m here in Huntington Beach trying to get this place ready to sell. I’ve been painting, tiling, putting up new light fixtures…Boy, would I love “Designed to Sell” to come in and help.
I’m hoping to have it ready by the end of September. At that time I will take both kitties and move to Arizona. Hubby Ric will sit on the house till it sells.
I am still making cookie cutters and have gotten some more cutters up on ebay. The contact button is working again thanks to my brilliant son Jason. So, let me know if you need a special cutter.

New Kitty

August 15th, 2009

sami-twisted

It is August and we have a new kitty – actually 2 new kitties. This is Sami. He was found dumped in a parking lot when he was only 5 weeks old. He is now over 4 months old (neutered) and we got a 5 month old spayed female to be his companion. He really relaxes when he sleeps. Here he is twisted while napping.

Hopefully, we’ll have the California place ready to sell in a month or so, and I’ll be taking the furballs to Arizona while hubby Ric stays until the home sells. It’s a seven hour drive and I’m training the kitties to walk on a leash with a harness. I figure the rest stops will be for them to stretch their legs too. I’ll be so glad when that’s over and we’re in Arizona.

Koroneburg Starts May 7, 2009

May 4th, 2009

piratefaire2009

The Pirate Faire was a lot of fun – for us and for the attending pirates. A number of baby buccaneers attended this year – we’ve had a veritable explosion of baby fair persons. We are really looking forward to the next six weekends + Memorial Day, when our village comes to life. Hope to see you there.

In California for the Pirate Festival in Corona

April 21st, 2009

April 25-26, the permanent village of Koroneburg (in Corona, CA) will be turned into our Pirate Village. This is our 5th Annual “Cutthroats of Corona” Golden Age Pyrate Festival. We’ll be open from 11am till 9pm on Saturday and 11am till 6pm on Sunday. The night time faire on Saturday is especially magical. For more information go to: discoverlore.org

Fairy Cookie

Alright, here is a picture of a beautiful fairy cookie made by Monrovia Bakery, using my new kneeling fairy design. It looks like I’ll be able to get pictures up again.

In California

March 25th, 2009

I’m back in California. We’re trying to sell the Huntington Beach place – not the best time to be trying to sell. We’ve got Pirate Faire coming up in April. The 25-26 weekend is when Koroneburg becomes a pirate village and I like to make skulls and crossbones, pirate ships and, of course, lots of mermaids… It’s a fun time!

I’m getting together with my son to find out why I can’t seem to upload my pics to the web site. I’ve got some beautiful cookie pictures from Monrovia Bakery – you’ve just got to see them to believe them. The fairy was made with a new design of mine, a kneeling fairy. Then you don’t have to worry about legs breaking off.

The Cookie Cutter Collectors Club is getting ready for their big convention in California in 2010. I’m really excited about it. I missed the 2008 convention in Wisconsin last year and they only have them on even numbered years.

I’ll get back to you with lots of pics.

Arizona

February 2nd, 2009

What a year! We finally got the mortgage closed. It was supposed to close by October 28, 2008, but the banks just stopped! It got pretty scary there for a bit and we had to clean out all our savings to come up with an extra $17,000 down. But, it’s done and I’m on my way to Arizona to get my office set up. It’s already been painted and my desk is in. Hubby Ric finally saw it in person a couple of weeks ago. He says it’s better than the 4000+ pictures show it.

I designed a new fairy. She’s sitting with her knees bent so the breakoff danger is less. Monrovia Bakery got the first one and made the most beautiful cookies. I’ll try to get pics. The Ebay will be getting redone soon and the kookie kutters will be up and running.

Thank God, November 4th is Over!

Vickie

What an exciting year this has been! I’ve been painting and unpacking at the new place in Arizona. I’m still going back and forth between California and Arizona. We still need to sell the CA place and I’ve been painting it, while moving as much out to AZ as I can on each trip.

Halloween night, I drove to Las Vegas to work on the Obama Campaign. I got to see Barack on Saturday before canvassing and Michelle held my hand for the longest time on Monday. What a wonderful lady. We succeeded in turning Nevada blue and I went from a size 12 to size 6 jeans. Wahoo! Now, if I can just keep it off.

Apologies for being out of reach

Front of the House

The house is more or less ready other than glitches – like the water heater and oven not working. They’re brand new, so hopefully we’ll get things working this week while I’m in Arizona. I’m getting dial-up out there on Tuesday, so hopefully I’ll be able to communicate more often. The back of the property really makes me happy. Check it out.
